VMware IaaS Certification Program News

Just received an email that the VMware Certified Professional – Infrastructure as a Service (VCP5-IaaS) certification program has started and is available for current VCP5 holders.

Here is what the VMware Certification Team emailed:

“Earning the VCP5-IaaS certification validates your ability to install, configure and administer a Cloud environment using vCloud Director and related components. It demonstrates your understanding of basic cloud concepts including public/private/hybrid clouds, multi-tenancy and cloud security, as well as your skills in using vCloud Director to create and manage vApps, service catalogs, and organization/provider VDCs, as well as administering cloud enabled networking and storage.

You can find complete details, including the exam blueprint, our recommended training course that can help you prepare, and more online at www.vmware.com/go/vcpiaas

It doesn’t really matter but I was surprised that they didn’t name this as a new VCAP certification. For example , VCAP-IaaS would have seemed like a more likely name to go with but the test would also have be different from the VCP question and answer format. Either way it will be interesting to see how many people go after this certification.
